Hi, I’m Anjali, Mom behind The Balanced Working Mom

I write for Indian women navigating the parts of life nobody really prepares us for: marriage, changing family roles, motherhood, work, home, and the quiet question of how to keep being yourself through all of it.

I’m Anjali Sharma, founder and editor of The Balanced Working Mom. I’m a mother, wife, daughter-in-law in a joint family, and an SEO professional working with clients around the world.

I don’t write from a perfectly organised life. I write from a real one — client deadlines, school mornings, family responsibilities, festivals, career decisions, and all the small adjustments women make without always noticing how much of themselves they are giving away.

The Balanced Working Mom is where I share what I’m learning about building a full life without disappearing inside the roles.

Why I Started This Blog

I started this site because I kept finding advice that solved only one part of a woman’s life.

There was parenting advice.

Career advice.

Marriage advice.

Home-management advice.

But real life doesn’t arrive in neat categories.

You can be trying to build a career while also figuring out your place in a new family. You can love motherhood and still miss the woman you were before becoming a mother. You can have help at home and still be the person remembering everything. You can be surrounded by people and still wonder when you stopped doing things simply because you wanted to.

Those are the conversations I wanted to have.

Not from the position of someone who has everything figured out, but as a woman living through many of the same transitions herself.

That is what The Balanced Working Mom became: part personal experience, part practical guide, and part reminder that building a family shouldn’t require losing yourself.

How I Got Here

“It is not about doing everything right. It is about trying, learning, failing, laughing, crying sometimes, and still showing up the next day.”

Before I got married in 2017, I was living in Bangalore and working my first corporate job after completing my MBA.

Then life moved very quickly.

I met my husband, who was living in Leeds, England at the time. We got married and moved to England together.

Six months later, we lost his mother.

That changed the direction of our lives completely. We left England and moved back to India to take on our family responsibilities. I went from building an independent working life in Bangalore and then England to living in a small village in Punjab as the eldest daughter-in-law of a joint family.

I remember wondering whether I would ever really work again.

Then motherhood arrived.

A couple of years later, our son was born. When Covid changed the way the world worked, it unexpectedly opened a door for me too.

With my husband’s support, I started rebuilding my career remotely.

Today, I work in SEO with international clients while raising my son and living with my family in Punjab.

The route between those two versions of my life wasn’t straight.

And that is partly why this website exists.

I’ve learned that our roles can change dramatically without our ambitions, identity or need for something of our own disappearing with them.

Sometimes you don’t need to become the woman you used to be. You need space to discover who you are becoming next.

What You’ll Find Here

The Balanced Working Mom follows the different parts of a woman’s life that often overlap.

Married Life

The identity shifts, in-law relationships, family expectations, first festivals, boundaries and conversations that come with building a marriage without shrinking yourself inside it.

Motherhood

The practical and emotional realities of raising children — from school mornings and birthdays to guilt, mental load and everything nobody puts in the baby book.

Career

Staying connected to your ambition, confidence and financial identity while life changes around your work.

Home

Practical systems for running a family home without becoming the person solely responsible for remembering and managing everything inside it.

Personal Growth

Rediscovering your interests, confidence, goals and sense of self through every new chapter.

Is This Only for Working Moms?

No.

The name began with my own experience as a working mother, but the site has grown with me.

Today, The Balanced Working Mom is primarily for Indian women navigating marriage, motherhood, career, home and the identity changes that happen between those chapters.

You may be newly married and not a mother yet.

You may have stepped away from work.

You may be building your career.

You may be raising children while trying to find your way back to yourself.

You don’t need to fit one particular label to belong here.

If you’re building a life while trying not to disappear inside everyone’s expectations of you, you’re in the right place.

A Little About How I Work

I have an MBA and work professionally in SEO, helping businesses understand how people search for information and how useful content gets discovered online.

That experience shapes how I create content here too.

I research the questions women are actually asking, look at search behaviour and community conversations, and then combine that research with real-life experience.

When a topic goes beyond my own expertise, particularly health, legal or financial matters, I believe in using credible sources and being clear about the limits of personal experience.

I don’t want The Balanced Working Mom to publish more information simply because the internet needs another article.

I want it to publish something genuinely worth finding.

How I Write

Warm, honest and practical.

I write the way I would talk to another woman over chai, sometimes serious, sometimes a little desi, and never pretending that real life follows the perfect routine.

You’ll find personal stories here because experience matters.

You’ll find research because facts matter too.

And you’ll find plenty of imperfect solutions because sometimes the thing that works on a Wednesday morning matters more than the thing that looks perfect on Instagram.

Do You Use Affiliate Links Or Sponsored Content?

Some articles may include affiliate links or brand partnerships. If I recommend something, I want it to genuinely fit the people reading this site. Paid relationships will always be disclosed clearly.

One Thing I Hope You Take From This Site

Your life will change.

Marriage can change it.

Motherhood can change it.

Work can change it.

Families, responsibilities and unexpected turns can change it.

But changing roles don’t have to mean slowly disappearing inside them.

You are allowed to love your family deeply and still want something that belongs to you.

You are allowed to build a home and a career.

You are allowed to change your mind.

You are allowed to grow into somebody you couldn’t have imagined five years ago.

A beautiful life should have room for you in it too.
